Infocomm Club

Teacher-in-charge: Mr Tan Kian Boon, Mr Gi Soong Chee

Infocomm Club was set up in Mar 2006 under the auspices of IDA Singapore in terms of funding and support.

Our Club Mission :

To empower our pupils with infocomm skills so that they are able to cope with the new digital age.

Our Club Vision:

An enriching learning journey which expands the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of pupils through the application of infocomm.

Infocomm is all about new challenges and opportunities. An industry that is growing at a rapid pace, Infocomm is a collection of the different industries that play an important part in creating, distributing, storing, and managing information. Infocomm is more than just Information Technology (IT), it is a whole new world which allows you to use your skills and make them into awesome careers such as Digital Media Careers, Software & Applications Careers, Network & Communications Careers, Infocomm Research & Development Careers. In the near future, Infocomm will play a major role in improving technology, education and the delivery of services across the globe; this is especially so in Singapore.

To make sure that Singapore stays ahead as the best location for infocomm business, it is important to have a strong local infocomm workforce. The Infocomm Club is set up for Dunman High School pupils who are keen in IT, want to stay ahead and achieve success with infocomm.

In 2006, Infocomm Club members received IT skills training in such programmes as Macromedia Fireworks and Macromedia Dreamweaver. IT skills training in such programmes as Macromedia Flash to create animation clips, videos clips and games is currently being conducted. To raise awareness of new innovation in the area of IT, the club members attended seminars such as Proof of Concept (POC) Lab, Grid Computing, visit to iFuture, as well as workshops such as Robocode and Robodesign conducted at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Infocomm club members were also selected to go for work attachment in an IT related company during June school holidays.

We hope that all the activities we have provided for the pupils would effectively prepare them for the new digital age.

I.S.A.C.

The DHS International and Strategic Affairs Council (ISAC) caters to the needs of able and motivated students with a passion for humanities and the social sciences.

ISAC members will get to organise and participate in events and programmes related to politics, international relations, economics, history and geography. Students broaden their horizons through participation in international conferences, such as the Michigan State University Model UN Conference, and hone the leadership and organisational skills they need to be future leaders and change-makers through the organisation of large-scale national events such as the 1 st DHS Model ASEAN + Conference.

ISAC is now in search for interested and capable individuals to hold leadership positions in the inaugural ISAC Executive Committee.

As part of the founding DHS-ISAC Executive Committee, you can expect an exciting and challenging year ahead! You will play a part in setting the direction for DHS-ISAC for future Dunmanians to come through organising large-scale events that will benefit, educate and inspire students from both DHS and other schools in Singapore and the region.
