From the 8 th to 11 th of May this year, students adorned in a variety of colourful tee-shirts and navy-blue bottoms were witnessed to have raced all over Singapore, competing with other classes to complete their activities at different stations so as to be first in a race. Has Singapore hosted a sequel to ¡®The Amazing Race¡¯?
What these students took part in was the National Education (NE) Race, which was part of the Year One Level Camp 2007. Year One Dunman High students partook in activities ranging from Ballroom Dancing, Silat, Beijing Opera, Fencing, Gamelan to Indian Dance. Through this camp, opportunities have been provided for class bonding, cohesion and establishment of rapport among students; also, the students¡¯ understanding of Singapore has been strengthened, on top of developing their passion for the nation; not to mention, it promoted the clarification of personal values for the development of responsible leadership.
The Year One students thoroughly enjoyed themselves during the camp, exhibiting their hidden talent in music and dance. Ask any Year One now to ballroom dance, fence or perform Beijing Opera, and they should have no difficulty at all!
